Ferndale Severe Weather Shelter

Our shelter is open November – March each year when weather meets certain criteria. We use the NOAA forecast for Ferndale to determine open nights. The criteria for opening are:

  • 32 degrees or colder
  • 34 degrees or colder AND 1″ of snow or rain is predicted or on the ground or with a high wind warning
  • At the discretion of FCS leadership and in the event of other kinds of weather events as needed (i.e., flooding, high wind + cold, etc.) and as volunteers are available.

Our shelter is located at United Church of Ferndale, 2034 Washington St and provides individuals and families a safe and warm place to sleep. The link below to our Facebook post and our shelter line will be updated regularly so please check back or call (360) 380-2200 ext. 4 to find out when we’re open.

Our shelter is dependent on volunteers. We can’t open without you! If you are interested in volunteering for a 4 hour shift, see more information below.
