About Us

Our Vision for Ferndale and North Whatcom County

We envision a thriving community where everyone is supported and valued, and their basic needs are met.

Our Mission

FCS works to understand and alleviate unmet needs by providing resources and connection.

Our Values

  • Dignity- Everyone is worthy of honor and respect.  We believe that each person we work with inherently deserves to be seen and valued.  We honor the feelings, wishes, rights, and traditions of all community members.
  • Stewardship- We are entrusted with gifts of time, funds, goods, and expertise from various sources, and we value each gift.  We carefully and responsibly manage these resources to get the best and highest use for those we serve.
  • Compassion- We see the hardships faced by community members and serve in ways that relieve that hardship to the best of our ability.  We work in the community for the purpose of improving people’s lives, even if by increments.
  • Inclusion- We believe everyone has the right to equitable access to opportunities and resources and we strive to ensure that all voices have a place, especially those that have been historically marginalized.
  • Self-determination- We believe in each person’s power to control their own life and make their own decisions.
  • Collaboration- We work with community to create the vision we see for Ferndale and North Whatcom County.  We ally with our guests, partners, funders, volunteers, and community.
  • Accountability- We hold ourselves accountable to our
mission, vision, and values that guide how we operate and serve our community.
